Purdie Building
Following the discovery of RAAC (Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) in the roof above Lecture Theatres A, B and C, and a small section of Room 204 in the Purdie Building in October 2023, work has been ongoing to make the building safe and return this to teaching space.
Purdie Lecture Theatre A works are now complete and have passed external Health and Safety inspections. Scaffolding has been removed and this week (Monday 8 January 2024) a deep clean of the Lecture Theatre was due to take place, followed by final IT checks ahead of the start of Semester 2 teaching on Monday 15 January.
Classes previously displaced from Purdie A to online will return to in-person teaching for Semester 2.
For Semester 2 students and staff will continue to use the rooms in the Willie Russell Building as a replacement for Lecture Theatres B and C in Purdie. Scaffolding will be installed this week in both to allow initial investigation work to be undertaken. Following this a programme for the work will be established, with a view to having all spaces returned for the start of the new semester in September 2024.
Work will be kept to a minimum noise level.
